Finding My Niche

Hello and Happy [Belated] New Year!

I can't believe how quickly 2016 came and went but I'm really looking forward to the coming year for Loud Sights.

As you may have noticed, I have rebranded for the year and am slowly narrowing down my work and finding a niche for my art. While I will continue to shoot a range of subjects, I find that I feel most rewarded and accomplished when I am able to spend time outdoors and capture the magic around me.

I feel most satisfied with an image when I am able to convey a feeling or specific thought in the viewer as I find that my passion truly lies in using art as a form of expression and communication. Hum of the SmokiesHum of the Smokies

In 2016, I traveled more than I usually do which is what solidified my decision to narrow down my range of work. Though I have always known that I enjoy shooting nature and still life more than portraiture, I realized just how much I truly loved photography as a means to document the great outdoors as I was sitting atop Clingmans Dome - the highest point in The Great Smoky Mountains National Park. I had never been to a National Park yet so to see nature at this level was an entirely new experience. As I stood at the top of this mountain, the thought popped into my head: "I HAVE to share this."

My mind was awhirl with the different sights and sounds that surrounded me and in that moment, it seemed unfair that some may go their entire lives without experiencing such a beautiful place and its many gifts. Of course, us artists are always thinking about how we can share beauty and feeling in one magical piece, so it is only natural that my passion is taking me here.

So here I am, a few more travels and deep conversations later, deciding to pursue photography in a way that will stimulate the senses of my viewers and hopefully inspire them to become more mindful of their community, of nature, and of the planet as the true miracle that it is.

Thank you for your continued support and love. I am filled daily with gratitude.
