I have to say, I may have found my new favorite location to shoot! It was my first time shooting here and I had such a great time exploring this park and getting brittany lynn imagery st charles mo photography family-3-3 to know Caprice, Jimmy, and their adorable son, Colt.

We decided on a secluded spot in Defiance, MO, and I was already excited about trying out a new location with a new lens that I was renting but when they arrived, my excitement skyrocketed because their outfits were like a dream come true! I think the hardest part of getting ready for a portrait session is picking out outfits that not only flatter everyone but compliment all the other outfits involved without being distracting or overwhelming and honestly, this family nailed it! Their use of the color blue was extremely well placed and adding in some yellow stripes on Colt tied everything together and added a pop of a different color without throwing the entire balance off. Not to mention, the patterns were eloquently chosen in a way that gave everyone their own sense of expression without taking away from the others'. To say that I was in love with their choices is a pretty big understatement!

We met at 4:30 so we could take advantage of the beautiful golden hour lighting that I adore and took off on foot through a corn maze (how fun, right!?). Colt was full of so much fun energy and was such a ham in front of the camera which is always exciting for me because I love getting to capture the big personalities in such small kids. After brittany lynn imagery st charles mo photography family-3 enjoying the corn maze for a bit, we made our way out and discovered an even more secluded pond that was part of the property and took some gorgeous photos there before heading back up to the garden. By the time we were finished at the pond, the sun was starting to drop and the lighting took on the most beautiful rosey-orange tones so our walk up the hill was full of random stops to get those photos with the sunflare and creamy bokeh that I am obsessed with! Once we got to the garden, the light was going fast but we were able to squeeze in some shots that are some of my new favorites.

I have to admit, my favorite part of portrait session walks is the conversations that happen and lead to making new friends. Photos, of course, are the main reason we are even there and getting those shots that make your heart stop is what brings me brittany lynn imagery st charles mo photography family-1-2 the utmost joy but truly getting to know people as we spend time together is what makes my job such a treat. This fmaily was no exception and I had the most wonderful time taking photos of them and getting to know them. I can't wait to work with these people again and I am honored to have been able to in the first place!
