Samantha and Patrick’s engagement session was certainly one for the books. It was my first time visiting Columbia Bottom Conservation Area, I saw more brittany lynn imagery st charles mo photography family senior children engagement-4029 grasshoppers per square foot than I have seen total in my entire life, and at sunset… we heard coyotes! What a memorable time this was!

Oh, and their session had some of the most beautiful Golden Hour lighting that resulted in gorgeous portraits of this adorable couple. Our session began one hour and six minutes before sunset so we spent the last fifteen minutes playing with sunflare and capturing a dramatic silhouette that showcases the sunset.

Samantha’s use of layers looked great and is both stylish and timeless, plus her headband was a lovely accessory to her outfit that added a pop of sparkle, along with her stunning new engagement ring. Patrick rocked the plaid pattern well and his shirt really complimented Samantha’s outfit and together, they looked phenomenal!

I have heard amazing things about this location in North County but, while during the summer it boasts a large sunflower field that photographs amazingly, during the fall season it is a bit sparse. In all honesty, I was surprised at how few trees there were and because this session was timed during the peak of fall foliage in Missouri, I was a bit worried that Samantha and Patrick would not like them as much as they would if we were able to get some trees in the photos. In the end, however, I feel that we were still able to capture a fall aesthetic within the photos and Samantha and Patrick look absolutely magnificent. There’s nothing more fall-esque than warm light, layered outfits, and vests and they rocked all of these!

I am definitely looking forward to this coming summer when the sunflowers return so I can visit this conservation area again and hopefully get a second round of dreamy lighting!

Samantha, good call on the location! You may have just introduced me to my new favorite spot!
